South and West Give Them a Run

Air Cadets from all over South, West, East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire came together to represent South and West Yorkshire Wing in the recent North Region Athletics Competition. By the close of the competition, the Wing was placed 5th.
The competition sees the Wings from North Region, which covers the North of England from the Humber and Mersey up to the Scottish Boarders, send their best athletes to compete.
The South and West Yorkshire Team did very well, claiming a number of medals, almost one medal per cadet in the team. The team put in a very strong performance through out the day, especially the final relay race, where they finished in first place, with a significant lead over the other teams.
“The team did really well” said Flight Lieutenant McCarron, Wing Sports Officer, “They really shone in the final relay event, well done to all of them” he continued.

Sport is one of the many opportunities the Air Training Corps. offers to its members, both cadets and staff. It is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17. It is also open to those over 20 who wish to join as a staff and assist in the running of such events.
