On Saturday 12th November 2016 a large group of Castleford Cadets went out in the local area selling poppies to the public on behalf of the Royal British Legion! They battled the freezing temperatures and threatened rain for most of the day throughout the centre of Castleford, and still managed a smile on their faces for the many shoppers on this busy Saturday on the run-up to Christmas.
This was in advance of the Remembrance Sunday parade which took place the following day, where #team2388 were once again out in force to pay our respects as a unit to those who have given their lives in conflict. Commanding Officer Vicky Williamson commented: "The cadets have done me, the squadron and themselves proud. I have been approached by members of the public to say how smart [they] were and that we were the best unit on parade. Well done!"
Castleford Air Cadets are still recruiting new members at their squadron! If you are in years 8 to 10 and want to learn to fly a plane, shoot rifles, take part in their Duke of Edinburgh awards - amongst many other activities please contact the squadron at firstname.lastname@example.org.
