On the 17th April cadets and staff from 148 (Barnsley) Squadron attended the Disability Games in Scunthorpe. Cadets have trained over time and become qualified referees in the sport of Boccia. This has been the fourth year in a row the air cadets have run this event for the Rotary Club and we were honoured and pleased to do this again. We had a long day travelling across to be ready for the competitors to start, but the day was well worth the hard work and the early start.
The experience was one of fun and phenominal sportsmanship all through the day, a really humbling event and one that the cadets and staff will remember for a long time to come. The opportunity to meet some wonderful people and share in the great experience with them was fantastic. The cadets were smart, professional and handled the competition in an amazing manner and should be proud of their achievements on the day.
We are really proud of you all for taking part, especially at this busy time in your school lives, with exams looming.
One of my personal highlights of the day was being able to connect with the competitors, have fun and see the people whom I have met over the three years of attending the event.
We look forward to next years event.
