On Friday 22nd April 2016 the Commanding Officer of 1114 (Gosforth) squadron Flt Lt Aaron O'Roarty was announced as the winner of the Audio and Visual category of the RFCA Green Howard's Media Award for 2015.

This was following Flt Lt O'Roarty designing and producing an Air Cadet Recruitment Video, recruitment leaflets and a carrying out a radio interview promoting the Air Cadets and the 75th Anniversary on local radio, Metro Radio.

This annual competition was judged across the 3 services, Air cadets, sea cadets and army cadets.

The award was presented to Flt Lt Aaron O'Roarty by H.M. Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham Sue Snowdon

FLT LT Aaron O'Roarty said "I am very proud to have won this award. I have a real passion for Media Communications as it is an excellent tool to show the community the fantastic work the cadets and staff are doing in our organisation"
