1151 (Wallsend) Squadron Air Training Corps is now a safer place to be than it has been for two years now. Ten Cadets spent two weekends working alongside Sgt Liam Reilly, of the St John's Ambulance Brigade, in order to obtain their Youth First Aid qualification, to add to their Heart Start Certificate.
Included in the course were what to do with major and minor bleeding, broken bones, asthma, climatic injuries, heart attacks and coping in an emergency. Three days training were followed by a day of tests and undertaking scenarios.
Flt Lt Yarrow, the unit commander, stated " It is pleasing to be able to see young people of the borough gaining life skills while having fun and getting away from a computer screen."
1151 Squadron is situated on the High Street next to Burnside School and parades on Tuesday and Thursdays from 7 pm onwards
