On Wednesday 18th November 2015, 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC hosted the Annual Presentation Evening 2015 to celebrate the achievements of the cadets.
Over the course of the evening many awards given to cadets such as Best Drill & Dress, Best Shot Award, Best Sports Person and many others. In-between the majority of the awards numerous presentations were shown by cadets and staff about their experiences within the Cadets while at the squadron, other presentations were about what opportunities some members of the squadron were fortunate to have such as the AOAC presentation by Sgt Smillie where he shared his experiences and facts about his role as an instructor up at RAF Linton-on-Ouse on the F-16 simulators teaching cadets about air to air combat and air to ground combat. Flt Sgt Eastwood spoke about his experiences at the Qualified Aerospace Instructors Course (QAIC) and various other presentations on Flying and Sports.
On the night the squadron was fortunate enough to have the company of two officers from the wing staff at RAF Linton-on-Ouse which were Sqn Ldr Hitchen and Sqn Ldr Ayre Other dignitaries included representatives from RAFA, SSAFA and the staff of 2431 (Keighley) Squadron. Towards the end of the night it was time for the new cadets to become enrolled and pass out as First Class cadets of the Squadron, this included a small drill display taken by Sgt Hall and all the new cadets to make the cadet promise before marching off and being dismissed.
At the very end of the night it was time for general awards which included Best Cadet, Cadet of the year, Best NCO Award and Best Flight award. It was also time for three surprise promotions for myself and Ashcroft to Cpl and then Sgt Hall to Flt Sgt.
Overall the night was very exciting and enjoyable for cadets and parents alike because it celebrates the hard work and achievements of the cadets and staff of the squadron over the course of the year.
