On Sunday the 19th August cadets and staff from 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC went to Blackpool, to watch airshow and look at other military related stands.
We met around mid-morning for the journey to Blackpool with CI Pearce driving the Squadron Mini bus and CI King using her own vehicle which we are thankful.
We arrived and had a good day socializing with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. We saw a variety of aircraft displays including a the final display season of the Mighty Vulcan bomber and a flat display by only 8 of the 9 red arrows aircraft due to mechanical problems earlier in the week. However, as usual, the display was as good as ever and I'd defiantly recommend watching an airshow at Blackpool or the beach if you ever had the opportunity. We also saw a number of other display teams including the Eurofighter Typhoon, Breitling Wing Walkers, RAF Chinook and Spitfires from the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial flight in the 75th anniversary year of the Battle of Britain. But of course, the highlight of the display was seeing the world famous Red Arrows perform their impressive display.
All this of course was free and with some of my best friends which I have only made because of the air cadets it was a great day. I would definitely recommend anyone who isn't an air cadet to go. The airshow is a great opportunity to watch some amazing flying displays as well as exploring the well known Blackpool Promenade.
