On Wednesday 19th August myself and three other cadets from 148 (Barnsley) Squadron were lucky enough to go flying at RAF Linton-on-Ouse.
The first part of the day was the safety briefing which dealt with what to do in the eventuality of an emergency whilst in the air and also how to operate a parachute.
As we were not the only squadron with cadets in attendance we had the opportunity to meet the cadets that were from other squadrons and socialise while waiting for our turn to fly.
When our turn came we went to get kitted out in a flight suit and helmet and then waited for the plane that we had been designated to fly in to return from its last flight. Once our respective planes had returned we were called to go out to the plane and begin our flight.
My flight lasted roughly twenty-five minutes and it was thoroughly enjoyable. I was given the opportunity to do some aerobatics such as a loop, this provided an extra thrill to the flight and I was also given control of the plane while performing the a loop which made the flight even more exciting.
It was a very enjoyable day, we all had a great time.
