On June the 7th, me and a few other cadets from 148 (Barnsley) squadron went mountain biking at Sherwood pines.
It was a warm, sunny and very bright day so we had been given safety glasses to make it easier to see. When we arrived at Sherwood Pines we got our bikes out and did our safety checks with help from Flt Lt Williams to make sure our bikes were safe to go out on the ride. We started by going to the skills park and were taught some skills that we would use on the ride. A few of us did fall off but with no injuries. Then we set off to the actual track which was around 19.6km.
During the course we only had one fall which was unlucky for the person that did fall off, he didn’t hurt himself just had a few grazes. Although he did fall off he had a good time as so did everyone else. Sergeant Reaney and Flt Lt Williams are amazing skilled bikers and we learnt a lot of skills from them while out on the ride. I now think I am ready for more of a challenge and look forward to the next time.
But for the people that didn’t go, I highly recommend taking the next chance to go mountain biking as you will have a lot of fun even if you do fall off.
