As the 2015 Mayor’s Cadet for Barnsley I was proud to take part in this years Armed Forces Day celebration. The day was full of celebration and reflection of those past and present in the military.
Many people gathered around the Town Hall for the service, I was honoured to have been asked to make a reading. As I stood with MPs Dan Jarvis and Michael Dugher nervously I walked up onto the stage and read my designated poem. This was a touching piece of poetry which I read in the Town Hall gardens.
The Men’s choir from Thurnscoe performed and they were incredible. I felt privileged and honoured to have made my reading and to stand among such inspirational people and reflect on the good work the Armed Forces have done in the past and continue to do.
