RAF Air Cadets from 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron have Saluted our Forces this week by joining with veterans, dignitaries and serving personnel as part of Armed Forces Week, in the lead up to Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day provides an opportunity for the nation to show its support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. The cadets helped to raise the Armed Forces Day Flag with the Mayor of North Tyneside, Mrs Norma Redfearn and reservist officer, Pilot Officer David Anderson, 26, wore his uniform to work for Reserves Day.

Cadet Corporal Nathan Horner, 16, of Longbenton, said, “To be part of the ceremony and show our appreciation was important to us, so we could say thank you as young people.”

Squadron Development Officer, Pilot Officer Anderson, 25, who works for M&S said, “I thank my employer for valuing my role with the Volunteer Reserves and the opportunity to bring a taste of the RAF to M&S.”

Longbenton Squadron is currently open to new members. Please visit www.2344.org.uk for further information.
