4 Cadets from Crowle Air Cadets recently completed the RAF WARMA 2 Day March around RAF Cosford. The march sees participants complete 40km (25 miles) of road marching each day, over 2 days.
The cadets formed part of the Sector 2 team taking part in the event. They were supported by a number of staff from the Squadron, who also took part in the gruelling and tiring event. After several weeks of practice marches, building up to the big event, the cadets gave it their all. Cadet Corporals Owen Wheatley, Daniel Brady, Bradley Cram and Cadet Daniel Jewison made up the cadets contingent from Crowle Squadron. Flight Lieutenant James Docherty, Flying Officer Victoria Docherty and Civilian Instructor John Cram made up the staff contingent from the Squadron.
By the end of the second day the team were tired, with sore feet and mussels, but still in high spirits. They had managed to complete almost the equivalent of 2 marathons in 2 days. The cadets all were awarded medals for their efforts and shared in the team award, presented to the team as a whole for completing the event.
Road Marching is just one of the many opportunities Axholme Squadron offers to its members, both cadets and staff. Air Cadets is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17. It is also open to those over 20 who wish to join as a staff and assist in the running of such events If you are interested in finding out more about Air Cadets in Crowle why not come down to the Cadet Hut, Axholme Academy on a Monday or Wednesday between 7:00pm – 9:00pm or visit us as www.crowleaircadets.co.uk
