On the 26th April cadets and staff from Barnsley Air Cadets attended the Disability Games in Scunthorpe. Cadets have trained over time and become qualified referees in the sport of Boccia. This has been the third year in a row the air cadets have run this event for the Rotary Club and we were honoured and pleased to do this again. We had a long day travelling across to be ready for the competitors to start, but the day was well worth the hard work and the early start.

The experience was one of fun and phenominal sportsmanship all through the day, a really humbling event and one that the cadets and staff will remember for a long time to come. The opportunity to meet some wonderful people and share in the great experience with them was fantastic. The cadets were smart, professional and handled the competition in an amazing manner and should be proud of their achievements on the day.

We are really proud of you all for taking part, especially at this busy time in your school lives, with exams looming.

For some there were highlights of refereeing the finals for the day and to referee a celebrity game with Mr Graham Taylor (ex-England Football Team Coach) and the Mayor.

We look forward to next years event.
