A Crowle Air Cadet has recently completed their Air Cadet VHF/UHF operator’s course. The course, run by the South and West Yorkshire Wing Radio Team, teaches the cadets how to use and operate both VHF and UFH radio equipment on the Air Cadet frequencies as well as providing theoretical and practical training.
The course is a mixture of both theory and hands on practical radio use. It cover the safe operation of radios, the theory behind radio communication, and the correct operating procedures required to use Radios on the Air Cadet frequencies.
Cadet D Jewison (14) attended the course and afterwards said, “The course was really good fun. The radio exercises were really interesting and different”.
Radio training is just one of the many opportunities Crowle Squadron offers to its members, both cadets and staff. Air Cadets is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17. It is also open to those over 20 who wish to join as a staff and assist in the running of such activities.
