Wednesday the 25th of March 2015 saw Flight Sergeant McCormack of 1407 (Newton Aycliffe) Squadron Air Cadets head to St. James's palace to collect his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. At the ceremony Flight Sergeant McCormack was presented his certificate by Levison Wood (famous for walking the length of the River Nile) along side His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. He also had the pleasure of meeting Commandant Air Cadets Dawn McCafferty, with whom the picture was taken. The gold level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award is highly sort after when applying for jobs and stands you out from the crowd. To achieve this Flight Sergeant McCormack had to do multiple activities from a four day expedition in the Cheviot Hills to a week long camp at DTE Warcop alongside months of sport, volunteering and learning a new skill.
