Longbenton Air Cadets have enjoyed the opportunity to gain leadership skills by working with RAF personnel at RAF Boulmer.
The adventurous youngsters tackled the thrills of the weekend-long course at RAF Boulmer, in Alnwick. RAF leadership specialists trained the 24-strong cadre in communication, problem solving and strategic thinking through a series of practical workshops. The youngsters then took to the field in a three hour-long leadership exercise.
Cadet Abbie Steward, 15, of Longbenton, said, “It was a challenging weekend with lots of different activities. The three hour exercise involved us competing against the other team by putting our new leadership skills into practice and communicating via radio. It was great fun!”
Squadron boss, Flight Lieutenant Gary Richardson added, “RAF Boulmer were excellent hosts and I thank them for that. It was great to see our young people develop together by gaining new skills and experiences that will take them forward in life.”
Longbenton Squadron is currently open to new members in Year 8 and above. If you’re up for a challenge then visit squadron at www.2344.org.uk.
