On Wednesday 18th March 2015, cadets and staff at 2431 (Keighley) Squadron were on top form as they were inspected by Sqn Ldr Dave Walker, ahead of their Lees Trophy Inspection.
The squadron was nominated 'Best Squadron In Central & East Yorkshire Wing' a number of weeks ago and will shortly be inspected by the Regional Commandant, Gp Capt Steve Harpum. This could see them being nominated Best Squadron In North Region and then potentially, best squadron in the Air Training Corps therefore winning the Lees Trophy. The evening was a busy one with cadets being formally inspected, staff being interviewed on their roles and preparations being made for the forthcoming Wing Training Day. Sqn Ldr Walker was visibly impressed with the squadron and commented on how far the squadron had come in the last couple of years. He then went on to praise the efforts of all staff and cadets by presenting the Wing Efficiency Trophy.
Flt Lt Paul Crabtree, OC 2431 Sqn said: "We're conscious not to put on a show for the inspection, to try and be something we're not. We have a great staff team, some of the best facilities in the wing and nearly 55 cadets on our books - These attributes allow the squadron to speak for itself. The atmosphere here is positive and I'm extremely proud of the team."
The squadron will hold its Annual Formal Dinner on Friday 20th March and then the Lees Trophy Inspection on Monday 23rd March.
