A Longbenton Air Cadet has been appointed as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2015.

Cadet Flight Sergeant Tobias Mill, 17, of Monkseaton, received his award from Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant Mrs Sue Winfield OBE at a ceremony held at the Army Reserve Centre in Dykelands, Sunderland.

Tobias has been appointed as Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Tyne and Wear from over 1000 cadets. He will attend functions with the Lord Lieutenant when members of the Royal Family and other civic dignitaries visit the region. He was selected because of his hard work, high standards and personal qualities as a cadet at 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron.

Tobias told us, “It’s a privilege to perform the role and I’m really thankful to have been selected. I can’t wait to perform my duties!”

Tobias is no stranger to welcoming royalty into the County as he performed for HM The Queen when she visited in 2012 to open the second Tyne Tunnel.

Commanding Officer, Flight Lieutenant Gary Richardson said “Tobias is an outstanding example and ambassador for young people. His positive attitude, friendly manner and meticulousness have been awarded and we’re all tremendously proud of him.”

Tobias is the fifth Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet in six years to be a member of 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron.
