A renewed appeal for committee members to help out at 1016 (Berwick) Squadron, Air Training Corps, has been issued.
An informal get together has been organised to which potential recruits are invited.
It takes place on Wednesday, January 28 at the Squadron Headquarters, The Drill Hall, Ravensdowne at 7.30pm, and anyone can come along for a chat over a cup of coffee and a bite.
George Starling, acting chairman, said: “My intention is that this be a very informal evening when you as parents of Cadets can air your views on any squadron matters. Your views and those of cadets are most important to us when planning future activities.
“We the Squadron Committee are by no means involved with the actual day to day running of the Squadron, that is the responsibility of the staff under the supervision of the Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Susan Gillies.
“Our duty is to assist, help and advise, but not to interfere. The staff are already doing an excellent job under much pressure, but I am sure with your input we can be of some help. So please do come along for a cuppa on the 28th.”
The organisation has made great strides over the past couple of years, having faced the threat of closure due to dwindling numbers. However, it cannot operate successfully without a squadron committee.
