On Wednesday 19th November 2014, senior officers and families came together to celebrate 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC’s year. This took place at the Annual Presentation Evening 2014.

A number of awards were given out as well as a number of promotional presentations delivered by cadets and staff who shared their exciting opportunities within the Air Cadet Organisation.

The Night started at 19:30 when the entire squadron marched from the Garage into the Drill Hall in front of our families, friends, squadron staff and wing staff. The Squadron Banner was then brought onto the parade and placed on the Trophy table, after which we all made our way to our seats at the back of the hall.

A total of 10 awards were given out. These included; Best Male Cadet, Best Female Cadet, Best NCO; RAFA Collection Award, SAFFA Collection Award and the new Aviation Excellence Award presented by Pilot Officer Cameron on-behalf on 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron. All who attended could see that these awards meant so much to those who won them.

Between the handing out of awards, a number of cadets gave presentations about the opportunities they have had since joining the cadets. These included; Flying Opportunities from Cdt King and Sgt Towler as well as camp/course opportunities from Cdt Kildunne, Cpl Eastwood and Cpl Smillie.

After all the awards and presentations had been given our Wing Commander (Wg Cdr Wiggins) and Commanding Officer (Flt Lt Crabtree) gave a small speech about the progress that the squadron has made over the last year.

The formal part of the evening came to an end at 21:00, when a small informal buffet was opened allowing us to socialise and celebrate our achievements with staff, friends, family and other guests.

Overall, the evening was a great success and reminded me of all the opportunities we offered and how we are moving forward as a squadron.

I would like to thank all the staff involved for making this year’s Annual Presentation Evening a success and I hope that it will inspire all involved to preserve and celebrate the squadron’s achievements.
