High Flyers Recognised at Bishop Auckland Air

On Thursday 27th November 2014, The Lord Lieutenant of County Durham, Mrs Sue Snowdon, presented 19 awards to Royal Air Force Air Cadets from 2505 (Bishop Auckland) Squadron at their annual presentation evening in the Reserve Forces Centre, Bishop Auckland.
With well over 100 guests, family members, officers, staff and cadets present, the awards presented included those for target shooting, adventure training, swimming, leadership, community involvement, overall achievement and endeavour. After a formal squadron parade with a march past for the Lord Lieutenant, the evening was concluded with a fantastic drill sequence to music which was followed by a light buffet for all.
The cadets achieving awards and promotions were Cadet Sergeant Sean Tague (16), Cadet Corporals Nathan Woodcock (16) and William Calderbank (15), Cadets Luke Hardman (15) and Joseph Smith (14) all from Bishop Auckland, Cadet Flight Sergeant Dominic Edwards (17) and Cadet Sergeant Tilbrook (17) both from Spennymoor, Cadet Flight Sergeant David Churm (18) from Shildon, Cadet Samuel Cooper (16) from Frosterley, Cadets James Brennan (14) and Kalon Robson (15) both from Tow Law.
One award winner, Cadet Samuel Cooper (16 years) from Frosterley said “Wow, to receive an award is great, but to be presented it by the Lord Lieutenant is fantastic”.
The Squadron Commander, Flight Lieutenant Ian Pepper said “The cadets have worked extremely well over the past 12 months, as we celebrate 50 years as a Squadron, it is a great honour for us to have the Lord Lieutenant present our annual awards”.
