Air Cadets from Longbenton flew in to join forces with commercial giants Marks and Spencers to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support.
The youngsters, aged 12 – 19, helped generous customers at M&S Metro Centre by packing bags to raise much needed funds to support the largest cancer care and support charity in the UK.
A total of £840.00 was raised. “M&S has helped us loads in the past and supported us in becoming the Best Air Cadet Squadron in the UK so we jumped at the chance to help them raise funds for Macmillan,” said 14 year old Louis Baptist, of Benton. “A lot of us have had family and friends suffer from cancer and it’s not nice, so we were pleased we could help,” added Louis.
For the fifth year running M&S has teamed up with Macmillan to fundraise for their flagship fundraising event. People can join M&S and Macmillan Cancer Support to make the biggest ever World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 26 September. All the money raised will help support essential MacMillan services in local communities around the UK, like the famous Macmillan professionals. For more information visit www.coffee.macmillan.org.uk
