Five Stockport Air Cadets are on cloud nine after completing the Air Cadet Communicators Course and earning the right to wear the coveted “Comms Badge.”
The cadets have worked hard covering subjects such as advanced radio use, satellite communications, the internet, technical skills and RADAR. The cadets completed these elements of training during a six months programme of training held at 162 (Stockport) Squadron.
Technical skills have included understanding circuit boards, using multi-meters and wiring plugs whilst satellite communications involved learning about the solar system, the development of space travel and using satellites around the earth for communications.
Cadet Flight Sergeant Molly Nicholls commented on their achievements by saying “Completing the Comms Badge was hard but interesting and I and developed some new skills during the course and acquired lot of knowledge. I’m looking forward to passing on some of the skills and helping other people achieve their Comms Badge.”
