To mark the Anniversary of The Battle Of Britain, Cadets from 148 (Barnsley) Sqn took part in two parades.
For the first parade of the day we were joined by other Squadrons from Sector One and Barnsley Sea Cadets in a parade through Barnsley town centre. A Service was held at St mary’s Church, lead by Father Stephen. Sergeant Emily Rogerson and Flight Sergeant Louis Swaby both read out readings during the service. Corporal Matty Clay and Corporal Callum Taylor had the honour of being the Standard Bearers for the first time.
After the service the Parade was lead through the town centre by Cadet Warrant Officer Tom Williams which concluded in from of the Town Hall.
The Cadets did an outstanding job, all the staff are proud of their efforts and we are looking forward to next year’s parade.
The second parade of the day was an evening commemorative service held at South Yorkshire Air Museum in Doncaster, where 148 (Barnsley) Sqn marching band performed for the parade and Cadets Alex Jones and Sam Richmond were standard bearers. The Cadets were lucky to spend some time talking to Air Vice Marshal Alan Johnson and other local dignitaries and former service personnel.
Well done to everyone that attended the parades, you did yourselves and 148 (Barnsley) Sqn proud.
