A number of Crowle Air Cadets have recently completed their Air Cadet VHF/UHF operators course. The course run by the South and West Yorkshire Wing Radio Team teaches the cadets how to use and operate bouth VHF and UFH radio equipment on the Air Cadet frequencies.
The course is a mixture of both theory and hands on practical radio use. It cover the safe operation of radios, the theory behind radio communication, and the correct operating procedures required to use Radios on the Air Cadet frequencies.
Cadet J Addlesee (14) attended the course, “The course was really good. The radio exercises were really good fun, but also taught us how to use the radios correctly”.
Radio training is just one of the many opportunities Crowle Squadron offers to its members, both cadets and staff. Air Cadets is a youth organisation open to anyone aged 13-17. It is also open to those over 20 who wish to join as a staff and assist in the running of such activities.
