Goole Air Cadets Attend France and Belgium Centenary Battlefields Trip

Three Air Cadets, Cdt L Earle (15), Cpl R Elcock (16) & FS A Walton (18) from 2357 Goole Squadron recently went with 2490 Spen Valley Squadron to visit Battlefields in France and Belgium in commemoration of the Centenary Anniversary of World War 1.
They visited such areas as Trench of Death Dixmuide, Langemarck, Flanders Fields, Flanders Fields Museum, Tyne Cot, Hill 62, Vimy Ridge and the Somme Battlefields.
They also attended a ceremony at Menin Gate, where four cadets were able to lay a wreath in remembrance of those who lost their lives. The Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing, it is a war memorial in Ypres, Belgium dedicated to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who were killed in the Ypres Salient of World War I and whose graves are unknown.
FS A Walton said “It was a great honour to be allowed to attend this trip representing Goole and 2357 Goole Squadron. It was a very interesting, educational, emotional and thought provoking visit, one that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
