On August 3rd several of our Cadets and Staff from 148 (Barnsley) Squadron attended a ceremony at Stottercliffe Cemetery in Penistone to commemorate the fallen soldiers from WW1. Our commanding Officer Flt Lt Andy Williams lead the Cadets in paying tribute to all the fallen by laying a wreath on a fallen Airman’s grave.
After a service lead by the Mayor of Penistone Cadets were dispatched by Joe Pinguey who is a member of the RBL Penistone branch to stand post by the graves of the fallen RAF personnel so people could go and pay their respects. Many Cadets had the chance to chat with some of the veterans and find out a little more about them.
This was a sombre occasion for all that were involved. The Cadets did themselves, the Squadron and Barnsley proud.
