Last Saturday myself and 8 other Cadets from 148 (Barnsley) Sqn set off to RAF Waddington at 6am for the annual air show.
On the way down in the minibus we were entertained by CWO Smedley and Sgt Stoner’s singing, we did feel sorry for Miss Parkes as she was sitting at the back with them!
As we arrived onto the airfield we parked up and then split up into groups to have a look around before the flying started. At this point the weather turned to rain, but that didn’t put anyone off from having a good time. We enjoyed watching the flying. A few highlights of my day were meeting the pilots of some aircraft and getting them to sign my programme or taking a selfie with them.
However, the best highlight of the day was that we got to talk to Air Commodore McCafferty after watching a presentation where she was awarded a cheque from last years air show for the ACO. We got to spend some time talking to her and we also got a selfie with her.
Overall we all had a great day and we are looking forward to the next airshow. Thanks to the staff for taking us!
