On the 2nd of August The Squadron, along with RAFA Cockermouth attended Cockermouth Show to fund raise and recruit potential new cadets.

Despite the weather, everyone had a good day

Well done to Amber Tirrell , John Frederick Tirrell , Brenden Szeremeta , Yens Phillips , Andrew McMinn , Elsa Whelan (1030 Squadron) and Robin Whelan (1030 Squadron) and a big thank you to Niall Patterson from EdenSoaring for helping out by providing the flight simulator despite having broken his ankle and leg in a cycling accident.

We also had a very special visitor to the Squadron stand. Flt Lt Doug Newham, pictured on the left in the RAFA stand photo.

Doug is a WW2 Bomber Command Veteran (DFC, LVO) that survived two full tours whilst serving with 10, 150 and 156 Squadron.

Despite being 93, Doug thoroughly enjoyed having a go on the Flight Simulator and was one of the best pilots of the day !

Doug also thoroughly enjoyed chatting to eveyone.
