A team of air cadets are planning an expedition to the Pyrenees. The team of eight cadets and two staff from 2344 (Longbenton) Squadron are flying out to the French Pyrenees.
The team will be attempting to climb the 2784m peak, Pic Du Canigou. Cadet Warrant Officer Chloe Durham said; “We’re all really looking forward to the expedition and have been working hard to raise our own funds to go as well as preparing for the trip both physically and mentally.”
The trip is partly sponsored by The Ulysses Trust and the Trust’s Chairman, Air Vice-Marshal Nick Kurth, said; “The cadets have dared to aim big and we are more than happy to support these experiences which can make such a huge difference to young people’s lives.” The team hope to summit the peak later on next week, after spending time acclimatizing.
Longbenton Squadron is currently open to new members aged 13 – 18. Anyone interested in the squadron is asked to visit www.2344.org.uk.
