On Friday 4th July 2014, cadets and staff from 2431 (Keighley) Squadron ATC, gathered to celebrate the world's greatest cycling event. Le Tour de France.
The Welcoming Event was hosted at Victoria Hall in Keighley.
The night started at 1800. We all met outside, and headed in to be given out role for the night. This was also the first time we got briefed on the parade we had to deliver, to a live audience.
The pressure began to build. Luckily, we had a short time to prepare something, CI's Smillie, Catlow and Fernside jumped into action and we were able to have a run through outside.
As more people came in, we sold more and more magazines and raffle tickets. We were also helping to raise money for Sue Ryder's.
At around 2100, in the second half of the show, we were called to action. Two ranks assembled and prepared to march on to the main stage. We were the only cadet force representing Keighley. We all paused for a minutes silence as the banner was dipped, before a number or two from an incredible singer.
We finished off by selling the final programs. Overall, it was a truly memorable night.
