Crowle Air Cadets recently competed in the South and West Yorkshire Inter Squadron Athletics competition, held in Leeds. The event sees Air Cadets from all 33 South and West Yorkshire Wing Squadrons compete in various athletic disciplines, in 5 different age categories. The Crowle team won 2 Gold and 2 Silver medals, and were placed 6th in the Junior Boys and 5th in the Junior Girls categories, the 2 categories they entered.
Cadet Mason won the Junior Girls 100m and 200m races, claiming Gold in both races. Cadet Jewison came second in the Boys Shot Put and Discus, claiming 2 Sliver medals. The other members of the team often finished in the top 6 for their events, scoring further points for the team, placing them high up the table.
Cadet Mason will be asked to represent South and West Yorkshire Wing in the upcoming Inter Wing competition, which sees the 5 North of England Wings compete. Cadet Jewison may also be asked to represent the Wing, if the 1st place competitor can not attend. There is also a chance other cadets may also be asked to attend, due to their high placing within the competitions.
Flying Officer Docherty, 2nd in command at the Squadron said “It has a fantastic effort by all those who attended. We were short on numbers due to injury and other events, but everyone gave it a go and supprised themselves at how well they all did” she continued “To have a cadet asked to represent the Wing for one event is fantastic, to be asked to represent the Wing for 2 is even better. And there is a chance others may also be asked”
