By Cadet Flight Sergeant Nick Bramhall - 2008 (Bawtry) Squadron
On Tuesday 4th March 2014 after 4 years as a member of the Air Training Corps, Flight Sergeant Shaun Allen was invited to Wing Headquarters to sit a Cadet Warrant Officer selection board. The Flight Sergeant sat in front of an interview panel consisting of the Wing Commander and the Wing Executive Officer, and underwent a rigorous formal interview for approximately half an hour in order to determine whether he was suitable for the role.
After a short period of deliberation the Wing Commander appeared with great news for the Flight Sergeant, informing him of his success in the interview process, and that he had now been appointed as a Cadet Warrant Officer.
Shaun was then challenged with keeping his promotion under wraps from all other people on the squadron for a whole 3 Days, until he was formally presented his rank slides by Flt Lt Archer on the squadron’s final parade.
Shaun joined 2008 (Bawtry) Sqn in October 2009, and has risen through the ranks at a good pace, claiming many accolades along the way. Most recently the prestigious appointment as Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for South Yorkshire. Shaun plans to remain in the ATC for the foreseeable future and hopes to be successful in his application to join the military as a pilot.
