On the weekend beginning February 1st a group of 19 Cadets embarked on completing their red badge St John Ambulance first aid course.
The course lasted the whole weekend and was a fun two days where Cadets learned how to deal with emergency situations effectively. The weekend included other Cadets and Staff getting into characters and forming situations for those of us who were doing the course to put our new skills into effect. I think that the Staff did a really great job of training the Cadets to cope in such stressful situations where they may be distressed causalities.
Personally I found the weekend very important and I now feel more confident and able to deal with emergency situations if they arise in the future. The skills I learned on the weekend are very valuable and I found that over the course of the weekend I developed as a communicator as well as developing my first aid skills.
I feel that the first aid course is a really good period of training which I think is key to everyday life as you never know when an emergency will occur.
