December sees the traditional wind down to the Christmas break following all the hard work of October and November. This year the cadets chose to relax and have a social night at Squadron for the final night of the year but before that they had the now traditional Christmas Quiz to negotiate.
This year the quiz saw the launch of the revised flights and the cadets split into teams for the first inter flight competition of the 2014 series. The teams answered questions on a variety of subjects including general knowledge, the ATC and a Christmas themed film and music round. After a very competitive quiz, one team from each flight were tied for first place so everything hinged on a tie break question. 3 Flight drew first blood in the competition by winning the tie break and the combined overall scores.
The year came to a close with the social night including games, pizza and of course the Secret Santa. Whilst some people still fail to grasp the concept that ‘secret’ means you’re not meant to find out or tell anybody, most people seemed to be happy with their gifts. Next came the more serious business of the games night which also evolved into an inter flight MarioKart competition….winners to be announced at a later date!
Overall, it has been a relaxed and enjoyable run down to the Christmas break, time for the cadets and staff to have some fun and recharge the batteries after a tough and very successful year. The Squadron is now on stand down and returns on 3rd January with our monthly sports session….enjoy the break, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all involved with 345 (City of Lancaster) Squadron.
