Tonight Cadet Warrant Officer Gareth Heppenstall has aged out of the Air Training Corps marking the end to his Career as a Cadet.

Gareth joined 148 (Barnsley) Squadron in February 2007 at the age of 13.  A friend of his, who was a Cadet at the time said it was interesting and something good to do, so Gareth thought he would give it a go and he’s never looked back.  He claims it was the best decision he’s ever made.  He has made the most of what the ATC has to offer, achieving many things including First Aid qualification, shooting proficiencies, academic qualifications leading to becoming a cadet instructor and several camps including a camp at RAF Valley just a few weeks ago.

Highlights of his time as a Cadet for Gareth are meeting new friends and drill!

Throughout his time at 148 Sqn Gareth has been a great asset to the Sqn and it’s been a pleasure to watch him develop into an excellent CWO and young man. We look forward to now watching him progress on to adult staff.
