Academic Training

All cadets are encouraged to follow the standard ATC syllabus. This consists of the First Class, Leading, Senior and Master classifications, followed by qualification as an Instructor Cadet. Different activities are available to cadets depending on their classification and this is one of the main reasons for progression through the syllabus. All cadets must pass the First Class training in order to take part in virtually any activity although certain exceptions apply.

Assessments

. The assessments can be taken at any time of the year and are conducted online. The assessments take the form of multiple choice questions and a minimum of 50% is required in each of the learning objectives, for a subject, to pass. A minimum of 30 hours must be spent studying at each level in order to qualify for the BTEC and this normally results in one classification being studied per year, once a cadet has attained first class.
