BTEC AVIATION STUDIES

The Syllabus

All cadets are encouraged to follow the standard ATC syllabus. This consists of the First Class, Leading, Senior, Staff Part1 and Staff Part2 classifications. Different activities are available to cadets depending on their classification and this is one of the main reasons for progression through the syllabus. All cadets must pass the First Class training in order to take part in virtually any activity although certain exceptions apply.

Examinations

Examinations are held on three occasions a year, normally at the end of March, May and November. The examinations take the form of multiple choice questions and a minimum of 13 correct out of 25 is required to pass. In addition to the above technical subjects, practical training must also be undertaken to qualify for any of the classifications. A minimum of 30 hours must be spent studying at each level in order to qualify for the BTEC and this normally results in one classification being studied per year.
