Lifesaver First Aid
This course provides a basic introduction to First Aid appropriate to the needs of the general public
Who should attend
- This course is ideal for members of the general public aged 15 years and over. It is not suitable for those wishing to be First Aiders in the Workplace
What they will learn
- Vital lifesaving and resuscitation techniques, as well as how to handle emergency situations
Course content
- Incident Management
- Casualty Management
- Priorities of First Aid
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation adult)
- Control of bleeding
- Shock
Course Duration
- 8 hours
- This course is sometimes offered as a combined course with the Lifesaver Plus course
Assessment
- Final assessment by registered Assessor
Certificate
- A St. John Ambulance certificate, valid for three years, is issued on successful completion of assessment
Lifesaver Plus First Aid
This course follows on from the Lifesaver course and gives students a grounding in handling situations not covered in the Lifesaver course
Who should attend
- You may undertake the Lifesaver Plus module up to one year after completing the standard Lifesaver course
What they will learn
- Skills to handle emergency situations not covered in Lifesaver course

- Fainting
- Anaphylaxis
- Hypoglycaemia
- Internal and external bleeding
- Burns and Scalds
- Poisoning
- Amputations
- Injuries to muscles, joints and bones
Course Duration
- 8 hours
- This course is sometimes offered as a combined course with the Lifesaver course.
Assessment
- Final assessment by registered Assessor
Certificate
- A St. John Ambulance certificate, valid for three years, is issued on successful completion of assessment
- Eligible to join the St. John Ambulance insurance scheme after completion
