Air Cadet Reaching for the Sky

A nineteen year old former Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Pupil has been awarded a prestigious scholarship to become a pilot. Josh Brooke joined his local Squadron of the RAF Air Cadets in Penrith when he was only fifteen years old after being given a flying lesson at Carlisle Airport. ”With that one flight I was hooked. Some of my friends were cadets and they told me about the opportunities to fly in the organisation” Josh said.

Rory Stewart MP Praises Penrith Air Cadets Achievements and

The local squadron - a member of the Cumbria and Lancashire wing - talked to their MP about the work that they have undertaken in the past year alone, including building a large scale  model aeroplane; participating in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme; First Aid training; powered flying at RAF Leeming; hill-walking excursions; supporting on poppy collections; and helping out at many local shows, to name just a few of their achievements.
