Last weekend (14 Setpember 2013) saw 1832 (North Manchester) Squadron along with Salford, Bolton, Bury and Rochdale squadrons attend the Southport Airshow. Our day started at 07:20hrs, meeting at North Manchester squadron for the coach. 37 people attended, including staff. With the coach packed and ready to go, we headed off. When we got there, we were amazed at the size of the place! There were static displays, charity stalls, burger vans and rides. All of the three services were represented too, with recruitment stalls and freebies to be had. The display itself did not start unitl 13:00hrs. At exactly that time, the announcer came on the tannoy: "Please put your hands together for the RAF Red Arrows!" and with that, a rush of jet engines flew over our heads out to sea to signal the start of the display. All the displays througout the day were fantastic, but particular highlights were the Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Typhoon. Everyone had a fantastic day out, with plenty of pictures and big smiles. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the staff of the others squadrons who helped throughout the day, but most importantly, to the cadets for representing Greater Manchester Wing and their respective squadrons with such a brilliant attitude and turn out.more -->
