Four Heatons' Cadet Warrant Officer Wins Wings

Cadet Warrant Office White from 1804 (Four Heatons) Squadron Air Cadets is flying high after winning his wings on a prestigious pilot training course. He won a place on the Air Cadet Pilot Scheme after completing a gliding scholarship last year. The scheme, which is awarded to less than 1% of Cadets nationally, meant him being sent to Dundee to receive an intensive two week flying course, culminating in flying solo in a Grob 115 Heron, the RN version of the Tutor, after 11 hours instruction. Speaking after receiving his wings from the Officer Commanding 1804 Squadron, he said "The course was really demanding and involved written air law exams as well as flying as much as possible. Going solo with two days to spare was fantastic and great experience. To have gliding and powered sets of flying wings is very special."
