Last weekend we welcomed 8 new cadets to squadron. They celebrated this achievement after just 6 months training they had earned their first class badge, although for some of them this is not their first badge!

ACO Band Parades at Downing Street

The Air Cadet National Marching Band was selected for a high profile event held at No 10 Downing Street recently (18 Jun 14).  The cadets from across the UK were at the Prime Minister's residence in central London to support a Government initiative to expand cadet units in schools.

Wednesday 18 September 2013 was a surprise celebration for Adult Warrant Officer Smith, when he received his Cadet Forces Medal presented by Wing Commander Kearns and we said goodbye to Warrant Officer Smith who has been with the squadron for a long time. All the Cadets and staff would like to wish him a happy retirement.

Failsworth Performed for the Lee Rigby Charity Gig

317 Failsworth Air Cadets performed in Middleton for the Lee Rigby Charity Gig. Large crowds gathered as the Band of 317 Squadron struck up and silence came quickly as the base came in, then "Amazing Grace" on the penny whistle with a single snare. The rest of the routine kicked in and there were lots of tears from the crowd and Drummer Lee Rigby's family. The applause was fantastic and we were greatly received by the public. Lots of people came to personally thank the cadets and staff for their on-going support.
